Main Awards for ERS Members

Applications for ERS Main Awards 2012 is now closed:

  • ERS COPD Research Award Programme: one main research award of € 50,000 and 15 COPD Travel of € 1,000 each supported by Boehringer Ingelheim.
  • ERS Romain Pauwels Research Award of € 50,000 supported by GlaxoSmithKline.
  • ERS Maurizio Vignola Award on Innovation in Pneumology of € 20,000 for the best published paper supported by Chiesi Foundation.
  • ERS Award for Achievement in NSCLC of 11,250€ financially supported by AstraZeneca.
  • ERS Award for Rare Pulmonary Disease of 10,800€ supported by GlaxoSmithKline.
  • ERS Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension Research Award of € 10,000 supported by Actelion.

When submitting an abstract, you had various opportunities to apply for a sponsorship.

Silver and Gold Sponsorship

A limited number of sponsorship opportunities are available to authors of accepted abstract from countries of Eastern and Central Europe and developing countries.

Application is by checking the appropriate box on the abstract submission form.

Two levels of sponsorship are awarded, Gold and Silver, depending on the quality of the abstract as evaluated by the Scientific Programme Committee.

Gold Sponsorship:

  • a fixed amount to cover travel and accommodation expenses
  • free registration to the Annual Congress
  • two Postgraduate Courses

Silver Sponsorship:

  • a fixed amount to cover accommodation expenses
  • free registration to the Annual Congress
  • two Postgraduate Courses

ERS Young Scientist Sponsorship

ERS supports a limited number of young scientists with a € 600 grant to attend the ERS Annual Congress. It covers travel, accommodation, and registration.

Application is by checking the appropriate box on the abstract submission form. 

Candidate criteria:

  • Non-medical doctors
  • Would not normally receive support from pharmaceutical companies to attend the Congress
  • Granted to the authors of the best abstracts based on the reviewers' scores and comments
  • Presenting author of the selected abstract
  • Aged 35 years or under by 1 September 2012 and hold a PhD with no medical degree
